Google Pixel 2 XL  in 2020

The Google Pixel 2 XL 128GB brings all the goodness of the regular Pixel 2 smartphone in an extra-large size. Robust performance, stunning display, great cameras, you name it. The features are carried forward from the previous version of Pixel and improved further to make the device even closer to perfection. Go for it, if you want a high-end smartphone loaded with powerful features, and comfortable with carrying around an extra-large phone.

Display and Design

The Google Pixel 2 XL 128GB boasts a 6-inch Quad High Definition P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels and a pixel density of 537 PPI. The handset showcases an aluminium body to give it a premium look. It gets an IP67 certification that makes it water-resistant and dust-proof. The always-on display is coated with Corning’s Gorilla Glass v5 to keep the device scratch-free. Below the camera lens at the back, a fingerprint scanner is slotted for aided security. The Pixel 2 XL comes in Black and B&W dual colour options.

Visually impressive design: Google Pixel 2 XL 128GB looks impressive, but that is not all that the Google Pixel 2 XL design is about, rather it’s more about precision, at every corner and bend. The company made a metallic phone feel like plastic, which offers a better grip and hides most of the antenna lines.

Configuration and OS

The Google Pixel 2 XL is powered by the same processor that we have found in most flagships this year, that is, a 64-bit octa-core (2.45 GHz, Quad core, Kryo 280 + 1.9 GHz, Quad core, Kryo 280) processor, efficiently seated on Snapdragon 835 chipset and paired with 4GB of RAM to ensure a lag-free performance. The Pixel 2 XL is loaded with the latest Android v8.0 Oreo, which is much better in comparison to the earlier version due to the addition of a lot of features and bug fixes. Also, with the Android v8, the developers now have control over how the colours appear on the screen.

Camera

In terms of photography, the Google Pixel 2 XL128GB stands out in both low-light and bright conditions. The smartphone hosts a 12.2MP rear camera setup with an aperture of f/2.0 that features dual-LED flash, OIS optical image stabilization and dual pixel autofocus. At the front, it has an 8MP camera setup with Fixed Focus. The cameras are equipped with the following exclusive features:

Dual-pixel sensor: Both the cameras are armed with dual-pixel sensor feature, which acts like a second camera lens by dividing every pixel into two.

Motion Photos: Google has also added another special feature called Motion Photos, which can capture a three-second clip for each photo and bundle it after automatically cutting out the unwanted portion of the clip.

AR stickers: The cameras also feature AR stickers by which the owner can add emojis and 3D characters into photos and videos.

Unlimited Google Drive storage: To free up the local storage, the owners of this phone will be able to store the captured photos and videos on Google Photos in original quality. Note that non-Pixel owners can also use Google Photos, but their content is compressed while uploading.

Battery, Storage and Connectivity

The Google Pixel 2 XL 128GB is backed by a 3,520mAh Li-ion non-removable battery which claims to last up to 7 hours with just 15 minutes of charge. But the only disappointment that you may feel is the lack of wireless charging, something that we deserved to see in a smartphone of this calibre.

On the storage front, the handset comes with a fixed internal storage capacity of 128GB which cannot be further expanded. Connectivity options on the Pixel 2 XL 128GB will impress you quite a bit, and especially the Bluetooth connectivity, which seems to be the only way out of the doomed headphone jack. Almost all the other features make its way to the smartphone, which includes 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, NFC and a micro USB Type-C port.
